Chicken Electronics: A Technology Plucked from Waste Lance Frazer Abstract Researchers have discovered a novel way to use at least some of the estimated 3 billion pounds of waste chicken feathers generated by the poultry industry each year. A new type of computer circuit board is composed of the feathers along with a soybean-based resin coating. Although the new circuit boards meet electronics industry standards, economic and market factors will ultimately determine if these computer boards make it to store shelves.
