EPA is seeking a highly qualified individual to provide executive leadership and management as the Associate Director for Health (ADH). The ADH is responsible to the Assistant Administrator for Research and Development to formulate and implement a comprehensive research program to investigate the effects of environmental pollutants on human health. The incumbent plans, develops, organizes, directs, and implements a number of major environmental health effects research programs. He/she will supervise the five Division Directors who direct the Laboratory's health research programs, currently staffed by over 300 employees, and will serve as principle Health Scientific Advisor to the National Laboratory Director and to the Assistant Administrator for Research and Development.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines: biological and natural resources, general health sciences and toxicology, is required. Desirable applicants will have a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D.) in one of the biological, medical, veterinary and/or public health fields, and several years of experience leading a research program.

Salary Range: This is a Senior Executive Service (SES) position. The salary range is $114,468 to $172,000, depending on qualifications. In addition, physicians may be eligible for comparability allowance.

Assistant Professor

The Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine, Department of Public Health Sciences seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor to expand its epidemiology research program in the area of environmental health. Our current environmental epidemiology-related research interests include environmental exposures and cardiac risk, cancer risk, reproductive outcomes, and sleep disordered breathing. An applicant should have research interest and experience in environmental factors and human health. Priority is given to applicants with strong experience in environmental exposure assessment. The selected applicant is expected to develop interdisciplinary, collaborative and independent studies relevant to environmental factors and human health. Professor of Global Environmental Health

Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences and the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) have an opening for a tenured associate or full professor of global environmental health. The Nicholas School, with an interdisciplinary faculty of 75, offers professional (Master of Environmental Management) and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) degrees and directs Duke's undergraduate environmental programs. DGHI undertakes and coordinates global health educational, research, and policy related programs involving many disciplines throughout the university, including the medical center.

The candidate must have a M.D. or a Ph.D. in a relevant field, which we interpret broadly. Relevant subjects include, but are not limited to, epidemiology, toxicology, public policy, and public health, as well as environmental issues as they relate to health outcomes – for example, the relationship between climate change and disease vector distribution. Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods integral to population-based science and human health/ecosystem health interconnections are preferred. Broad understanding of the global environmental health field and experience undertaking environmental health research in a developing country setting are essential.

The successful applicant is expected to lead the multi-disciplinary Global Environmental Health signature research initiative at DGHI (http://globalhealth.duke.edu/). He/she should have a nationally recognized, externally funded research program and relevant experience with the administrative components of research programs, and will be expected to contribute to relevant teaching programs. There are numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within the Nicholas School and DGHI, as well as with multiple other academic units across the university. Postdoctoral Position to work on Longitudinal Study of Exposure Related Behaviors

UC Davis is conducting an ongoing US EPA funded project to collect longitudinal data on exposure related behaviors. Data is being collected on time activity patterns, food consumption, and consumer product use. There are three data collection platforms, consisting of three annual phone interviews, 18 months of monthly web surveys, and 4 seasonal home visits. Participants are either families with young children or older adults. Participants participate in either one or two of the various platforms.

We are looking for a candidate who would work closely with faculty on data analysis, paper writing, and report preparation. We will have a significant amount of data resulting from this project and thus this individual will be able to be involved in or lead efforts on several papers in a relatively short time period. As this project is on-going, data is presently available for analysis.

The position would last for two years and would be based at UC Davis in the Department of Public Health Sciences. UC Davis is expanding its presence in the exposure science arena.
