After a brief hiatus, we are pleased to announce that EHP Student Edition will once again resume publishing original, high-quality, NSES-aligned monthly lessons based on news and research articles published in EHP, the leading international environmental health sciences journal. Our first new lessons are planned for September 2008, just in time for a new school year!
EHP Science Education Program
The EHP Science Education Program offers a library of 91 high-quality science and interdisciplinary lessons based on selected articles and scientific research published in Environmental Health Perspectives, the leading international research journal. Lessons advance critical basic skills through the context of engaging, current environmental health topics.
Lessons are aligned with National Science Education Standards in biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology, and physical science, and are targeted at students in grades 9 through 12, although many lessons are also appropriate for undergraduates. All lessons and corresponding news articles can be downloaded for FREE from this website.

FEATURED LESSON: Bisphenol A and Diabetes
Summary: Students read about how bisphenol A, a component of certain plastics, may be
linked to type 2 diabetes. Then they interpret a line graph of data from the study.
Short Lesson - This lesson will take 20-30 minutes to implement.
Objectives: By the end of this lesson students should be able to:
- accurately summarize the data displayed in a line graph; and
- describe how bisphenol A behaves similarly to the hormone estradiol and may contribute to type 2 diabetes.
