Community Outreach and Education Program
Johnnye Lewis, PhD, Director
In addition to providing resources to K-12 teachers, the NMCEHS COEP team provides educational resources on environmental health topics to local communities, healthcare workers, and policy makers. Programs are developed to respond to communities through multiple mechanisms that best meet the needs of that community. Examples of community support (in addition to K-12 curricula and teacher workshops) include building community capacity for environmental health research, supporting efforts to address environmental injustices, sharing research results from NMCEHS scientists, and informing policy makers and facilitating policy change in the region.
